The Sunshine Blogger Award (2024)

I had another blog post planned for today, but didn’t get around to writing it in time. Don’t fret though! God made a way for a blog post to go up today anyway, thanks to Hannah Ruth over at Faith, Fiction, & Fairytales tagging me to participate in The Sunshine Blogger Award! Thanks so much for saving the day, Hannah Ruth! 😀

It’s been several years since I’ve last participated in a blogging tag here on Authoring Arrowheads, so I’m excited to answer Hannah Ruth’s questions!

First, Let’s Cover The Sunshine Blogger Award’s Ground Rules:

  • Display the award’s official logo somewhere on your blog.
  • Thank the person who nominated you. (Thank you, Hannah Ruth!)
  • Provide a link to your nominator’s blog. (Faith, Fiction, & Fairytales)
  • Answer your nominator’s questions.
  • Nominate up to 11 bloggers (spoiler alert: I will probably tag far less than that XD)
  • Ask your nominees 11 questions.
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on at least one of their blog posts.

Now for the Questions!!!

This is a tough question! I’ve never really thought about it before. Maybe… 1) Christian, 2) Introvert, and 3) Creative? I don’t know. XD

Hands down, The Holy Spirit by Billy Graham. I read it earlier this year, and it was the first book I’ve ever tabbed and underlined passages in. If you’re interested in learning more about The Holy Spirit, I cannot recommend this book enough. This book helped me appreciate The Comforter on a brand new level.

I don’t know if I’ve ever considered someone as my mentor, per se, but one of my biggest role models, outside my immediate family, is a lady at our church who taught my husband and me in Sunday school a couple years ago. She is one of the most transparent Christian women I know, and she is incredible at discipling younger Christians and helping them learn how to become more mature spiritually.

Though I don’t have a technical favorite artist right now, I’ve been listening to a lot of I Am They on Spotify lately, along with the rest of my Christian playlist!

Definitely curled up on the couch with a book, a soft blanket, some Dr. Pepper, and some snackies. Preferably ice cream. XD

I’ve been blogging on Authoring Arrowheads since 2017, when I published my first book, but technically I’ve been blogging since 2016. I had another blog back then but ended up taking it down to devote more time to Authoring Arrowheads and authorship. So, in total, I’ve been blogging for 8 years.

I’ve had my wisdom teeth removed… TWICE. Why? My former dentist promised my top wisdom teeth would never grow in, so I only got the bottom ones pulled the first time. Then, surprise, surprise, my top wisdom teeth grew in and made my top teeth shift (after I already had braces in middle school!). So before I got married, I had the top wisdom teeth removed and ended up getting invisible retainers to fix the shifting issue. Such a fun experience. -_-

Both my husband’s family and my family beg me to make dirt cake for every get-together, but I prefer to make snickerdoodles. XD

2 Corinthians 5:7: “for we walk by faith, not by sight.” (ESV)

Starting with the Most Recent: Dear Henry, Love Edith by Becca Kinzer, God Has Not Forgotten You: He is with You, Even in Uncertain Times by David Jeremiah, and Defy the Night (Defy the Night, #1) by Brigid Kemmerer. I liked Defy the Night the most out of the three.

That Jesus is real, He’s Who He says He is, and that He will never leave you nor forsake you. He loves you enough that He died for your sins so that you may have eternal life if you accept Him as your Savior and follow Him.

My Nominees Are:

I’m going to only tag five, because I’ve been absolutely terrible at keeping up with other blogs lately. *Hides in shame* But, if you’re reading this and want to participate, go right ahead! 😀

Eleven Questions for You to Answer:

  1. What’s your favorite fiction book of all time, and why?
  2. What’s your go-to order when you get fast food?
  3. If you had to guess, how many books have you read in your lifetime up to this point?
  4. What inspired you to start your blog?
  5. Which book do you plan to read next?
  6. Which song have you listened to on repeat this year?
  7. Where was the last place you visited on vacation or a day trip?
  8. Do you have any other hobbies that aren’t blogging/writing/book related?
  9. What’s your favorite season?
  10. How often do you post on your blog?
  11. What is your favorite book of the Bible?

I had a blast answering these questions, and if you choose to participate in this tag, I hope you do as well! What answers do you have to Hannah Ruth’s questions? Let me know in the comments!

Aim high, stay strong, and always hit your mark.

-Allyson 😀

As an author and blogger, my goal is to teach writers that there is a way to write realistic, thought-provoking, redemptive Christian fiction that honors God while not sugarcoating the realities of the world.

  1. I’m so glad you did this, and great answers! That book about the Holy Spirit sounds like a good one… I think the Christian church in general tends not to put enough emphasis on His daily role in our lives, so there is much to learn.

Wisdom teeth removal… twice? You poor dear.

And amen to the ice cream!

Thanks for doing the tag, and thanks for your blog! It’s always helpful to get to read about the day to day progress and process of being an author, so I appreciate your insight!
