Editing Diaries: The Dream (Episode 9)

Will this be the final Editing Diaries update for this book?

After all this time, I’m praying it will be.

If you follow me here on Authoring Arrowheads, you may have read that I’ve postponed The Dream‘s release date by a month…

And I did, for several reasons I don’t want to get into in this blog post. The reasons behind this decision frustrate me as an author, and I apologize if they have caused any frustration or disappointment for my readers. Please know that the main reason behind my decision was due to something 100% out of my control, and that, based on this unforeseen challenge, I decided to postpone The Dream‘s release to December 2nd.

I’m a planner by nature, and a chronic worrier too, so the fact I even had to make this decision has gotten under my skin; however, I know God allowed this to happen for a reason too, even if I don’t understand it right now. I had actually considered December 2nd as a release date choice earlier this year, so maybe this is God’s way of showing me that November 4th wasn’t as good of an idea as I had thought.

If you will, please pray for me over the next couple months concerning the book’s release and my spiritual and mental health.

So… what have I been doing in the meantime?

Well, I read over The Dream again toward the end of August and noticed a couple scenes I had altered were not in the copy I had sent my editor, so on Labor Day morning, I scrambled to get those to her.

Then in September, I went back and read over The Crush again, edited out some harsher words (cr*p, p*ss, fl*pp*ng) and tidied up some other things I caught, and uploaded the new version to the book vendor websites.

Next, I plan to read over The Fall and do the same thing, hopefully before The Dream releases.

October will be a super busy month for my husband and me, but I’m praying I can get ARC copies for The Dream up on BookSirens as soon as possible after I receive the edits back.

Again, please pray for me. I feel like life has been pulling me in a million different directions over the past few months, and I’m someone who needs to have a set schedule and downtime to not feel like I’m going crazy. Life’s been making it extremely hard to focus and/or have time to getting this book out, but I’m leaning on the Lord to get me through it.

If you’ve read and enjoyed the first two books in The Ballad of Emery Brooks trilogy and haven’t already done so, please consider adding The Dream to your to-read list on Goodreads! As soon as I am able to get The Dream up on BookSirens for ARC copies, I will post that form and send out links to those who have already signed up. Thank you for your patience, and I appreciate you!

Aim high, stay strong, and always hit your mark.

As an author and blogger, my goal is to teach writers that there is a way to write realistic, thought-provoking, redemptive Christian fiction that honors God while not sugarcoating the realities of the world.
