Q1: When did you feel that God called you to be a Christian author?

I have always been drawn to Christian fiction but until I retired from real estate, had never considered actually publishing a book.  As I began to write my first novel, I could feel God’s influence on the pages of my writing. With every book I write, I feel it getting stronger.  I know that I have been called to write and glorify God.

Q2: Tell me about your books! What has been your favorite release so far?

My favorite release so far has been A Walk with Heavenly Spirits. I feel like through the writing of that book, I have grown in my faith and walk with God.  I could see a lot of myself in the main character, as far as my growth as a Christian and it has helped me to heal from my hurts from the past.

Q3: What authors in your genre inspire you the most?

The ones I’m inspired most by are James Rubart, Caryl McAdoo, Lorana Hoopes, Gabriel Shoshanna, and Rachael Hauck.  I love the way they weave the Christian message into the pages of their stories.

Q4: What’s your go-to snack when you hit writer’s block and need a pick-me-up?

I usually go for popcorn or a cup of herbal tea.

Q5: What advice would you give to an author seeking to have their books traditionally published?

Getting traditionally published is a hard road. I was Indie published for quite awhile before I was signed by Winged Publications.

I would advise signing with a small press first. Get your name known and then when the time is right, approach other publishers.  Traditional publishing isn’t for everyone.

All authors have gone through the same process you’re going through now.  I would say to write as often as you have time for. Be as active in social media as you can.  Start building your subscriber list and take the time to get to know your readers. This all helps if you decide to seek a traditional publisher.  They like to see that you have a reader base. Also, make sure you know what the publishers your approaching is looking for. Take time to do your research.

Writing is a never-ending learning process and it’s not fair to try to compare yourself to other authors. There is always more you can learn.

That is some stellar advice! 🙂 Thank you for joining us here, Ms. Grace! Now let’s take a look at her novel, Redemption at Shadow Lake.

As an author and blogger, my goal is to teach writers that there is a way to write realistic, thought-provoking, redemptive Christian fiction that honors God while not sugarcoating the realities of the world.
