My Favorite BookTube Channels to Watch

Over the past year, I’ve gravitated away from watching AuthorTube videos on YouTube (not because of the channels I watched; just for my own mental health, because I’m prone to comparison, and removing the temptation has helped immensely) and have gravitated towards BookTube videos instead.

While not all of the BookTube channels I watch align with my specific reading tastes, I have greatly enjoyed watching these channels and have found great book recommendations from several of them. So this week, in no particular order, I would like to share my favorite BookTube channels with you. 🙂

Note: I’ll be sharing the types of books each BookTuber reads, as well as the content levels, so others can decide whether or not they feel the BookTube channel would be a good fit for their tastes.

Haley Pham

The first BookTube videos I came across that made me want to explore the community were Haley Pham’s. She has a main channel called Haley Pham and a vlog channel called Haley Pham Vlogs. She posts bookish content on both, but I believe the vlog channel is more of her main channel for books.

Haley reads a mix of young adult and adult books, and primarily seems to enjoy romance and fantasy the most. Though she mostly reads secular books, she is a Christian and often recommends books by C.S. Lewis and other Christian nonfiction titles. Her taste in romance tends to be on the less spicy side and she normally discusses the spice level of the books she reads, so if you’re like me and don’t want to read spicy content, she would be a great BookTuber to follow for recommendations. Plus, she’s 100% relatable and always makes me laugh.

Rachel Catherine

Rachel is an Australian BookTuber who often posts weekly vlogs along with loads of bookish content. While she reads mostly YA and adult general market books, every one of her videos begins with a Bible verse, and her videos contain minimal language, if any.

Rachel tends to read a little bit of every genre, and, like Haley, has said that she prefers her romance to be low spice. Some of my favorite videos she does are her TBR jar videos, where she picks books for her monthly TBR by pulling prompts out of a jar.

BookLoverAmanda

One of my current favorite channels to watch, BookLoverAmanda is a southern, Christian BookTuber who mainly reads clean and Christian adult fiction of all genres, though she also reads secular books, middle grade, and YA on occasion. I love how thorough she is about discussing content in books and never backs down from standing up for her convictions. She is very open about her faith, and is a shining light for Jesus in the bookish community. Amanda is also hilarious, so be prepared to laugh when watching her channel. She has excellent recommendation videos, and was the one who convinced me to pick up When the Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer, one of my new all-time favorite reads.

Oceana GottaReadEmAll

I’ve only recently discovered Oceana’s channel, but she’s quickly become one of my favorite Booktubers! Like Amanda, she reads mostly clean and Christian adult fiction, with some secular books sprinkled in. She is also very upfront about content in books and often shares her faith on her channel. Like me, Oceana struggles with liking fantasy but loves a good romance book. Out of all the BookTube channels I’m recommending, Amanda and Oceana recommend books that are the closest to my personal taste in books.

WhatsDesReading

Destiny Sidwell is a BookTuber who reads general market books of all genres. Though I don’t normally read a lot of the same books she reads, I’ve added several to my TBR thanks to her recommendations. Destiny has an infectious personality and often shares hilarious bookish rants on her channel. My favorite videos by her are her TBR Board Game videos (which are more recent), where she chooses books for her monthly TBR by playing a homemade prompt game board, and her 24-hour readathons.

Are you as addicted to BookTube as I am? What are your favorite BookTube channels to watch? Drop your recommendations in the comments!

Aim high, stay strong, and always hit your mark.

As an author and blogger, my goal is to teach writers that there is a way to write realistic, thought-provoking, redemptive Christian fiction that honors God while not sugarcoating the realities of the world.
