Editing Diaries: The Dream (Episode 7)

Welcome back to the never-ending saga of Editing Diaries for The Dream! 😛

Progress has been made, but it’s still not quite ready to send to my alpha reader. Here’s why.

First, Good News: Round 6 (The Infamous Word Search Edit) is Complete!

After three months of working on it, I can finally say that The Infamous Word Search Edit was completed at the end of March, thank the Lord! 🙂 Y’all don’t even know how happy I am about this.

So, what else have I been working on?

Rereading The Crush and The Fall for Continuity

I’ll start off by saying that April has been a headache and a half.

My husband has been dealing with a health issue for three weeks now that’s not getting any better and we still don’t have any answers on what’s causing it, so I’ve been concerned about him. Please pray for him. This month has also been busy with something going on every weekend, and on top of that, another intense personal issue came up this week that I’m trying not to allow to get to me, but it’s been hard.

I know every time I write these posts I end up telling y’all all the reasons why I haven’t made progress, but I’m just trying to be transparent. It’s difficult for me to make any progress, or have the headspace to work on things, when dealing with circumstances like this. I’m sure other people could deal with things like this and still power through on their goals, but that’s not how I’m wired. I have been able to keep writing steadily, but editing progress hasn’t gone as planned.

So, did I give up on doing anything concerning edits this month? Not exactly.

Instead of rereading books 1 and 2, making slight edits to those if I catch anything I missed during their editing phases before publishing, re-uploading those to all the vendors, making a few more edits on The Dream for small things I thought of that need to be added, rereading The Dream again, fixing anything else I noticed, and then sending it to my alpha reader, I just reread The Crush and The Fall and took notes.

Is that lazy? Probably. But that’s all I’ve had the headspace for, and probably all I’ll have headspace for for the remainder of the month. Because, just four days in, this has been a brutal week, and (not meaning to sound negative here, just being honest based on all that’s happened) I’ll be surprised if it gets any better.

Again, please pray for my husband, and for me. Thank you for your support.

To offset all the doom and gloom I just dumped, comment below with something positive that happened to you in April! If your month has gone like mine, please let me know how I can pray for you.

Aim high, stay strong, and always hit your mark.

-Allyson 😀

As an author and blogger, my goal is to teach writers that there is a way to write realistic, thought-provoking, redemptive Christian fiction that honors God while not sugarcoating the realities of the world.
