eBook Review Copies for The Crush AND The Fall Are Now Available!

Hey there, Arrowheads! The third and final book in The Ballad of Emery Brooks trilogy will be releasing on November 4th, 2024, Lord willing. In preparation for the last book’s release, I am opening up a limited number of review spots for book one, The Crush, and book two, The Fall, starting today! Read on to learn how you can join the review team!

What’s The Crush about? Here’s the blurb!

Never settle for anything less.

A combination hopeless romantic and old soul trapped in a teenager’s body, closet musician Emery Brooks wonders if she’ll ever find a love as timeless as her grandparents’. Fear of judgment and social alienation due to her older brother’s past mistakes render her incapable of writing a love song. Still, Emery holds fast to the ideals her Grandma Adeline instilled in her from a young age, vowing to allow God to handwrite her love story, to never settle for anything less.

That is, until love cynic Sawyer Alston enters her world. Broken by the wrath of his parents’ failed marriage, Sawyer has been uprooted from everything he’s ever known and now sees love as a void of empty promises. When Emery and Sawyer meet due to their mothers’ rekindled friendship, Emery soon realizes she’s in over her head.

For, despite her resistance, her first crush, her first glimpse at love, involves a boy who doesn’t believe in love at all.

A tale of love and loss reminiscent of old-fashioned values with a bit of sass and music mixed in, The Crush is perfect for fans of A Walk to Remember and In 27 Days.

Suicidal thoughts | Attempted suicide (described afterward, not shown) | Bullying within the church | Stage fright | Death | Rough divorce/family issues

Contains mild language (PG), including: hussy, heck, and dang. No words stronger than those are included.

Note: The first published edition includes the words “crap”, “piss”, and “flipping”, but I have removed those in the review copies and will be updating both the eBook and the paperback versions on vendor sites to reflect this change prior to The Dream‘s release. The same goes for any previous uses of these words in The Fall.

No sexual content is featured, other than a few, non-detailed, kisses. The same goes for The Fall.

What about The Fall (Book 2)?

The Fall is the second book in The Ballad of Emery Brooks trilogy, and readers must read The Crush first to understand everything that happens in this book. If you’ve already read The Crush and would like to just read The Fall for review, review team spots are available for you as well!

As an author and blogger, my goal is to teach writers that there is a way to write realistic, thought-provoking, redemptive Christian fiction that honors God while not sugarcoating the realities of the world.
