The Dream’s Release Week Celebration!

Due to an error with the spine on The Dream‘s paperback that prevented the book’s page from being live on the book’s actual release day (December 2nd), I didn’t feel like writing today’s blog post then. So, let’s pretend today’s blog image says “week” instead of “day” and celebrate now, okay? Okay. 🙂

First, Check Out The Dream‘s Paperback Cover!

Like with The Fall, The Dream‘s full paperback cover was not ready during the book’s cover reveal. So, if you’ve been wondering what it looks like, this is it! ❤

TA-DA! I love it, even though this thing has given me anxiety for a week straight.

So, what’s The Dream about? Let me tell you…

When you know God made you for more, why fall into the trap of settling for anything less?

Emery Brooks has carried a song in her heart since she was that little girl who took center stage during her family’s jam sessions years ago. Now that God has revealed a new opportunity to chase that pent-up dream of hers and she’s determined to freefall into His arms, will that be enough to guarantee a life of stability?

As Emery journeys into her twenties, she’s bombarded with well-meaning yet discouraging advice, and begins to compare her path to others’. Is she a failure for having no desire to take the beaten path, or is she merely doing what her Grandma Adeline always taught her to do: allowing God to write her story, and never settling for anything less?

In the conclusion of The Ballad of Emery Brooks trilogy, will Emery at last see her greatest dreams fulfilled, or is happiness a concept lost on her entirely?

Never settle for anything less.

A combination hopeless romantic and old soul trapped in a teenager’s body, closet musician Emery Brooks wonders if she’ll ever find a love as timeless as her grandparents’. Fear of judgment and social alienation due to her older brother’s past mistakes render her incapable of writing a love song. Still, Emery holds fast to the ideals her Grandma Adeline instilled in her from a young age, vowing to allow God to handwrite her love story, to never settle for anything less.

That is, until love cynic Sawyer Alston enters her world. Broken by the wrath of his parents’ failed marriage, Sawyer has been uprooted from everything he’s ever known and now sees love as a void of empty promises. When Emery and Sawyer meet due to their mothers’ rekindled friendship, Emery soon realizes she’s in over her head.

For, despite her resistance, her first crush, her first glimpse at love, involves a boy who doesn’t believe in love at all.

A tale of love and loss reminiscent of old-fashioned values with a bit of sass and music mixed in, The Crush is perfect for fans of A Walk to Remember and This Lullaby.

To be 100% honest, The Dream was an absolute nightmare to publish. Every little thing I tried to do to prepare this book for publication either fell flat or resulted in a bunch of mistakes that had to be fixed. My laptop barely functioned any time I tried to work on editing. I had to postpone the release from November 4th to December 2nd, and then the paperback wasn’t even available on the actual release date (though it was already live last week, I had to temporarily unpublish it because of a design error on the spine that I only discovered once my copy arrived). Besides the grace of God, readers like you are the only reason I was able to push through and finally release this book. Your continual words of encouragement and feedback for The Ballad of Emery Brooks trilogy mean more to me than you know. Thank you, readers, for taking a chance on me and this trilogy. I thank God for each and every one of you that I’ve been blessed to become acquainted with along this journey. ❤

Aim high, stay strong, and always hit your mark.

As an author and blogger, my goal is to teach writers that there is a way to write realistic, thought-provoking, redemptive Christian fiction that honors God while not sugarcoating the realities of the world.

  1. Congrats on the release! I just got an ebook copy of The Fall on Black Friday sale so hopefully I’ll be able to read that and then The Dream soon!(I got and read The Crush last year) I am a little bit nervous for the emotional turmoil it’s going to put me through after The Crush, but I’m excited to read it all the same!

    1. Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the last two books! Though more tears may be shed when reading the last two books, I promise they’re not as emotionally damaging as The Crush haha. 🙂

  2. Hello, random question, do you make your on book covers? I’m writing a novel and that part is stressing me out. So if you do, could you let me know how? No problem if you can’t, your covers are just so beautiful!

    1. Hey! I made the original cover for my debut novel when I first started out self publishing (it was not very good lol. I’m not an artist and don’t recommend doing that unless you have graphic design knowledge), but my sister, who majored in Graphic Design, remade that cover for me and has made all of my covers up to now. In the future, I’m considering going with 100Covers though because my sister is busier now than she used to be (which is understandable) and doesn’t really do graphic design projects outside of her day job.
