As a reader, do you gravitate more toward reading series, or standalones?
Ever since I got back into reading a little over a decade ago, I’ve read my fair share of both and have some thoughts. This week, I’m listing the Pros and Cons of reading series versus reading standalones, and will then decide which storytelling format I gravitate toward more.
A few weeks back, I wrote a post called Recommending Music Artists Based on My Books. While that’s all fine and dandy if you’re a music lover, I’ve been thinking about it ever since, and decided that it may be more fun for y’all if I dig a little deeper and recommend BOOKS based on my own books.
Now that over a decade has passed since I first got back into reading, you may be wondering if my reading tastes have changed, or how they’ve changed. Well, in some ways they have, and in others they haven’t.

Okay, so I know it’s considered a sin in the book community to prefer movie adaptations of books over the books themselves… but is it still true when you’re considering an entire genre?
If so, I’m guilty of it when it comes to the Romcom genre, and today, I’m admitting why I prefer Romcom movies over Romcom books.
Do I think BookTok, and its counterparts on Instagram and YouTube are inherently toxic for readers? Not necessarily. But, I do think it can hinder our love for reading, if we allow it. Why? Read on, my friend.
