What’s up, Arrowheads? Today I’m meeting up with Author J.E. Grace again for a Q&A session about her book that was released back in March, A Walk With Heavenly Spirits! First, let’s take a look at the book itself!
Book Description
Allison Stevens became a Christian at a young age. Then she makes a wrong decision that takes her on a collision course of disappointment and heartache. God loves her and wants her back, but Satan wants to keep her in a life of despair and lies.
Heavenly Spirits are sent by God to instruct and remind Allison of God’s promises. Can she walk the path God intended for her and find the joy she lost?
A family she didn’t know she had, a man grieving his personal loss, and a felon who wants her dead makes her life more complicated than ever. Can she find happiness outside of the chaos?
On the road back to God, she discovers that it doesn’t come without trouble. There are still struggles, but now she realizes she isn’t alone. God is with her. Can she stay strong and ward off the lies of the devil?
This sounds like a very interesting read! Now, let’s join Ms. Grace for a Q&A session about the book! 🙂
Book Q&A With J.E. Grace
Q1: The description for A Walk with Heavenly Spirits is intriguing. What inspired you to write this novel?
I got my inspiration from, “A Christmas Carol.” I thought, “Why not write a Christian tale with Heavenly Spirits.” Allison, my main character has visitations from Heavenly Spirits to lead her back to God after trying to do everything on her own and failing miserably. I wanted to write a book about ordinary people with broken lives and how God heals them and uses them to his glory. Spirits instruct Allison and lead her back to God, which gave me the title for the book.
Q2: Who is your favorite character from the novel? What about them makes them your favorite character?
It would have to be Allison. In some ways, I was being reminded through the spiritual growth of Allison, that my own journey wasn’t much different than hers. In fact, in some ways, it was a mirror image of my personal growth over the years. I too have been broken and held on to past hurts until I learned forgiveness.
Of course, I haven’t seen Heavenly Spirits the way that Allison did in the book, but I did at various points in my life, feel a connection to God’s guidance and protection. I was fighting spiritual warfare of my own. Without God’s help in the worst of times, I am confident that I would not be here today. When things seem hopeless, we can pull through and learn to forgive others in order to experience God’s healing in our life.
Q3: Why do you think Christians need to read this novel?
My wish for all my readers of A Walk with Heavenly Spirits, is that they come away with questions and search God’s word for the answers. I hope that the book will leave them with the need to want a closer relationship with the Lord. I write because it is a gift from God, but my greatest joy is to know that it touched someone’s heart and maybe something they read made a difference in their life.
Q4: How has writing this book impacted you personally?
Through the writing of that book, I have grown in my faith and walk with God. There were times as I was writing, that I felt a nudge to write certain things and discovered that it was actually a form of healing for me. There was more of myself in the book than I originally realized. There were times as I was writing, that I discovered that it was actually a form of healing for me. There is more of myself in the book than I realized.
Q5: What was the most difficult part of writing A Walk with Heavenly Spirits? How did you work to overcome this difficulty?
I prayed a lot through the writing of the book and could feel a lot of God’s influence during the whole process.
My mother was always my biggest fan. She loved to write also and was there to encourage me when I felt like I wasn’t good enough. When A Walk with Heavenly Spirits was published, I sent her a paperback copy which she read and loved. In the book, Allison’s mother passes away. I had no idea when I wrote the book that my own mother would shortly go to meet the Lord. It was almost like God was using this book to prepare me. Of course, at the time, I didn’t see the connection. He has given me peace, and even though I miss not being able to call her, I know she is rejoicing in Heaven, and someday in the future, we will be together again.
