As y’all may remember from my announcement last month, I am no longer posting weekly book reviews on Authoring Arrowheads. However, I still want to share some book appreciation posts from time to time.
I’ve read a lot of books this year, and today I’d like to share my top five favorites of 2019!

#5: Finding Fireflies by A.C. Williams
I went into this clean adult romance read with zero expectations, as I had downloaded it on a whim for free during Black Friday last year. I ended up loving the unique blend of romantic comedy and thriller elements all tied together with biblical messages we need tons more of in Christian fiction.
#4 The Big Picture (Katie Parker Productions #3) by Jenny B. Jones
Though I read the first two books in the Katie Parker Productions series in 2018, I didn’t get around to reading book three until earlier this year. The third book adds so much value to the series in ways of character arcs, depth, and humor. Plus, if you’re a fan of Mad Maxine, she’ll score tons more laughs from you in this installment. 😉
#3 Dandelion Dust by Faith Potts
I had heard a lot of amazing things about Faith Potts writing prior to 2019, but waited to read this novella in the summer because of the dandelion references. And OH. MY. WORD. Y’all, this book completely broke me. I read it all in one day because I couldn’t bear waiting to find out what happened to these precious characters. If you’re a fan of clean YA romance, I highly recommend checking this book out!
#2 100 Days of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons
As y’all have heard me fangirl about numerous times, I got the chance to read an ARC of 100 Days of Sunlight prior to its release. I had watched Abbie’s Writers Life Wednesdays channel on YouTube for a few months prior to reading the book and couldn’t wait to see if the book lived up to my expectations. To be honest, it greatly exceeded my already high expectations and memories of reading this book still make me smile!
And now, drumroll please…
My favorite read of 2019 is…
#1 Within These Lines by Stephanie Morrill
No, I did not just pick this book as my #1 favorite because it’s by one of my all-time favorite authors.
Being a historical fiction novel, Within These Lines isn’t in a genre I’d typically read or enjoy. That being said, the premise of this novel (an Italian-American girl falling for a Japanese-American boy during WWII) had me intrigued far before the book was even released. I finally got to read it a few months back and fell head over heels in love with the heartmelting story Taichi and Evalina share.
Talk to Me, Arrowheads!
Have you read any of the books on my Top 5 list? What are your top five favorite reads of 2019? I need some reading material for 2020, so drop your recommendations in the comments!
Aim high, stay strong, and always hit your mark.
