And we’re back here. Yet again. Because I’m still working on this story after a year and three months. 😛
Writing On the Flip Side has been quite the writing journey, my friends. It’s been a roller coaster of highs and lows, and these last three months have kept that same momentum. Ready to jump on the roller coaster? XD
If you haven’t yet read the first few updates, you can do so here:

April 2023 (cont.)
When I last left y’all back in April, I mentioned that I had only written around 2,000 words at the halfway point in the month. By the end of the month, I ended up writing 6 more times for an ending wordcount of 46,723 words, which gave April a total of just a little over 6,000 words added to On the Flip Side.
May 2023
In May, I was pretty consistent in writing, writing for a total of 14 days out of the month. For most of May, I recycled some of the scenes I had already written in On the Flip Side’s original draft, and rewrote them to fit the new draft.
In all, I finally hit 50k on May 8th (hallelujah, thank you Jesus!) and met my monthly goal of 10,000 words, by writing 10,547 words. By the end of May, On the Flip Side‘s total wordcount was 57,270 words.
June 2023
And then we have June, our current month. Phew…
Writing-wise, not much has happened this month. And by not much, I mean that in the five times I’ve written in June, I’ve written a total of 2,330 words. So, yeah… I’m not too thrilled about that.
My mental health has been terrible the past couple weeks due to some stressful news I’ve received (not life-threatening nor health-related though, thank God), and I just haven’t felt like writing. I did, however, manage to finish On the Flip Side’s outline.
The few times I managed to write earlier this month, I was hesitant to continue because I was nearing the end of what I had outlined. To take care of that, I spent last week finishing up the outline, which ended up being from right after the All is Lost moment (75% mark) to the end of the book. I’m hoping what I’ve outlined doesn’t seem too easy resolved or too outlandish, if that makes any sense. Part of me fears it is, but I’m hoping that’s just this spell of anxiety I’m currently going through rearing its ugly lies.
I can’t remember if it was in a former blog post or a post on Instagram, but I once hinted that On the Flip Side would be my first book to possibly enter Thriller territory. What I have planned for the book is like dipping a pinky toe into a Thriller puddle, but I’m still excited about it. If it ends up making sense, that is. XD
As I’m writing this post on the day before it goes live, I pray that I can utilize the last few days of this month to get more writing done. Maybe I can at least reach half of my goal, which would be 5k. 🙂
Please pray for me as I learn more about this new situation that has been causing me anxiety. There are some unknowns that I’ve been overthinking about which is causing the anxiety, and right now, to me, it doesn’t seem like any solutions are good solutions. But, God is in control, and He knows the situation, and the future, better than I do. Please pray that I can fully trust Him in this.
