🦋 ‘Christine’ is my full name. It’s always been shortened to ‘Chrissy’. ‘Chrissy’ is an Irish baby name. In Irish the meaning of the name Chrissy is: Abbreviation of ‘Christine’. Follower of Christ. Where the name ‘Chrissie’ is the shorten Latin name for ‘Christina’ but has the same meaning as ‘Christine’.
Spelling for any name can vary sooo much but it makes the name what it is and why.
My daughter’s name is ‘Cyline’ with the ‘y’ pronounced as a long ‘e’ in seed, not short like in egg. ‘Celine’ & Selina are the original spelling but her daddy liked the ‘y’. It’s used in names like Cynthia & Cyril.
But then again, every accent in every country, and even from state to state, can change the pronunciation of even the most common name.
Great post. I hope you get some comments for discussion.

Ooh, C’s are some of my favorites! Maybe because my name gets misspelled with a C a lot. (Looking forward to that K post, because I change C character names to K’s a lot!!) Corban/Corey, CJ, Caitlin, Cody, Candace, Cadence, Cheyenne (think Lane Frost 😢), Cathryn…you name it. 😆
