Things are looking up, y’all! ❤
In my last WIP update, I admitted that May was my worst writing month since I first began to set word count goals in January 2019. So, how did June treat me? And what’s to come in July?
Check out past WIP Updates for The Dream (The Ballad of Emery Brooks, #3) if you haven’t already:

June 2020 (cont.)
So, at this point last month, I had written an estimated 3,750 words. I mentioned two updates ago that I may start implementing word count goals of 5k per month, but apparently my perfectionist tendencies got in the way of that. More about that in a second. 😛
By June 18th, I had successfully added 5,000 words to The Dream, but I wasn’t completely satisfied. Still bummed out over May’s lack of productivity, I wanted to keep going.
Despite hitting more rough patches, by June 29th I had written an estimated 6,750 words for the month. On the last day of the month (June 30th), I got this crazy idea. I was tired of goofing off on writing and wanted to reach 10k for the month again, so I set out to do just that… all in one day.
For the first time in I don’t know how long, by the grace of God, I managed to write 13 pages in one day, adding an estimated 3,250 words and, hopefully, smashing that desired 10k word count for the first time since March. I say hopefully because I like to write my first drafts out by hand, so by this point I haven’t had a chance to type up everything yet.
Anyway, I wrote about three quarters of a chapter that day where Emery works through her issues with her (unnamed due to spoilers) romantic interest and seeks to make things better. Like I said in the last update, I imagine The Dream will undergo a lot of editing and rewrites once the first draft is done, but at least progress is being made.
June’s Word Count: est. +10,000 words | Total for WIP: est. 28,000 words
July 2020
Well, after the major hand cramp that ensued on June 30th, I decided not to write for a few days after. At the time of writing this post (July 3rd), I haven’t written anything yet, but we’ll see where July takes The Dream!
